GlobeSmart® Redesign: New Features for Increased Global Learning and User Interaction

San Francisco, California – October 3, 2011 – Aperian Global announces the release of its redesigned GlobeSmart web tool. The original version of GlobeSmart, the company's flagship web tool for global business, was launched in 2000. This unique tool contains practical information on how to conduct business effectively in over sixty countries, with fifty business skills covered for each country. The redesigned version 5.0 incorporates several new features that enable users to post questions on the site — and receive responses from the GlobeSmart Advisor Network — as well as add their own experiences, photos, and videos.

GlobeSmart now resides within the Aperian Global Learning Portal which extends the site’s utility. The portal provides Aperian Global clients with a single gateway to multiple web tools and offers online Learning Paths that can address a wide range of clients’ learning objectives. The portal will also offer an interface that will allow clients to upload and manage their own proprietary, company-specific information pertaining to their global work.

In addition to the extensive country content in the tool, the GlobeSmart Assessment Profile (GAP) is a popular feature of the application in which users can see how their preferred work styles compare with those of people from other cultures. It is integrated into talent development initiatives in a variety of ways, including its use in training, teambuilding and coaching engagements. The GlobeSmart redesign includes a significant upgrade to the GAP, incorporating an analysis of the data from 400,000 users of the tool from over 60 countries.

Ted Dale, Aperian Global's Co-Founder and Chief Creative Officer, has been shepherding GlobeSmart's development since its inception. He and Aperian Global's Web Tools team combined new technology, today’s user trends, and client requests to take GlobeSmart to this new level. "I am thrilled to be able to offer this new version of GlobeSmart to our clients who are on the forefront of intercultural interactions around the globe. I believe that the many additions and improvements we have incorporated into GlobeSmart 5.0 will make it an invaluable tool in support of our clients efforts to engage productively across borders."

Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) is one of the more than 100 global organizations that license GlobeSmart on an enterprise-wide basis. Laura Guenther, AMD's Director of Global Organization & Leadership Development, remarked, "At AMD, we are excited about the launch of GlobeSmart 5.0. The much improved interface, easier GAP assessments, customizable learning paths, social networking capabilities, clickable maps, and a global holiday calendar are among the many new features which will help our employees develop global business skills more effectively and efficiently."
